In 2023 the United Kingdom prepares to host the largest Anime Expo in the country: it is AnimeCon, which will be held in Birmingham – at the NEC Exhibition Center – on 17 and 18 June. An event not to be missed, we tell you right away: the intention is in fact to celebrate Asian pop culture, joining forces with Crunchyroll and Fandom. A convention, therefore, in which the world of anime will join that of K-Pop and J-Pop, without forgetting the universe of cosplay and gaming.
But let’s go into more detail. AnimeCon is preparing to host about 15,000 fans for two days. There will be panels with guests, meet & greet and signing copies. Among the guests already announced there will be Maile Flanagan, voice (English) of Naruto, and Ryan Colt Levy who will talk about Chainsaw Man. Cosplayers Lani and F.ukuro are also expected.
AnimeCon, K-Pop and J-Pop music
A lot of anticipation then revolves around the J-Pop and K-Pop concerts scheduled during the event (but of which we still don’t know anything). And obviously space for the world of video games with tournaments, workshops and lots of merchandising.
“We are delighted to announce AnimeCon – said Clive Nørgaard Morton, co-director of Fanatics Group – and to bring the best of Asian culture to the UK, on a scale never seen before. We look forward to welcoming fans next summer and getting them to take ownership of this convention.”
Tickets will go on sale Wednesday, November 16 at 10am Eastern Time at animeconuk.com.
