(ANSA) – SAO PAULO, NOVEMBER 21 – The ambassador of Italy, Francesco Azzarello, will speak tomorrow evening at the inauguration of the first edition of the ‘Festival Italia Mia – Festival of Italian Culture’ at the Maria Sylvia Nunes Theater in Belém, capital of the state of Para.
The demonstration, indicates a press release, “is the result of an initiative of the ‘Grupo Liberal’, the main media conglomerate of the state of Pará, co-sponsored by the Italian embassy, with the sponsorship of the Italian Trade Agency for Brazil “.
For three days the ‘Estação das Docas’ will offer a free set of cultural, gastronomy, architecture, dance, music and introductory courses for sommeliers.
Furthermore, until 27 November the Cine Sesc Ver-o-Peso and the Nunes Theater will host a review of 17 films from the First Italian Film Festival in Brazil, also visible in streaming on the appropriate digital platform.
A photographic exhibition curated by Vania Leal will celebrate the great architect Giuseppe Antonio Landi, who designed the Cathedral and other churches in the 18th century.
“The state of Pará – Ambassador Azzarello declared in this regard – has known an important and little known Italian influence, since 1700, of which religious figures, architects, painters, musicians and artists have been protagonists, leaving visible traces in monuments , theatres, hospitals and in teaching”.
I sincerely thank, he concluded, “the Vice President, and the entire ‘Grupo Liberal’, our very good honorary consul Rosangela Maiorana, for her brilliant initiative, which brings to general attention the theme of the Italian contribution to Pará, in memory of a great character, Father Rômulo Maiorana, and which will certainly serve to reactivate and strengthen bilateral ties”.
