(ANSA) – BERLIN, NOVEMBER 22 – The Italian ambassador Armando Varricchio today hosted the award ceremony of the Mercurio Award, for companies and initiatives that have distinguished themselves in promoting the relationship between Germany and Italy. The event, reads a note from the embassy, was held in the presence of exponents of German and Italian business and personalities of public life from both countries. Seven are the criteria that guide the jury in the awarding process, including the creation and saving of jobs, growth, sustainability and transfer of know-how.
The winner of this edition is Manni Group/Isopan Deutschland – a group that promotes sustainable building through low environmental impact products and solutions – for “innovative sustainable building solutions in the industrial, urban and agricultural fields”. Special awards for the “green”, “startup” and “cultural commitment” categories were awarded to Gruppo Saviola, BeDimensional and the Italian Film Festival Berlin.
For Ambassador Varricchio, the delivery of the Mercurio Prize is a precious opportunity to celebrate “the vitality and depth of economic relations between Italy and Germany and to give names, faces and voices to the protagonists of this success story”. In 2021, bilateral economic relations recorded a record value of over 142 billion in commercial exchange, according to Varricchio, who anticipated a further upward trend in the first eight months of this year. Extraordinary results, which can be explained by the strength of Made in Italy and with the integration in the global value chains between the Italian and German production systems. “The companies awarded tonight are all high in creativity, technology and sustainability, sectors on which the present and future competitiveness of our economic systems depends”, concluded the ambassador.
Eckart Petzold, President of Mercurio, also lingered on these concepts, the association that since 1988 has offered institutions, businesses and managers of the two countries a platform for networking and exchanging experiences and information: “the Mercurio Award of this year is a certificate of our commitment to the enhancement of sustainable industry, innovation towards the energy transition and cultural exchange”.
