New appointment with the podcasts of VoceGialloRossa.it: every day, from Monday to Friday, we will explore one of the most important topics of the day with the voices of our editors.

With a video posted on social media, Roma celebrated the birthday of Roger Ibanez who turns 24 today. An anniversary that the defender is preparing to experience in Japan, home of the Roma tour with two friendlies scheduled.

This first part of the Ibanez season can be divided into two parts. In the first, approximately from August to the beginning of October, we saw a defender in growth compared to previous appearances, as evidenced for example by the matches with Juventus and Inter. His performance has not gone unnoticed even in Brazil, with the coach Tite which called him up for two matches at the end of September, allowing him to make his debut for the Seleçao in the friendly against Tunisia.

From about mid-October onwards, however, its yield is slightly dropped, as well as in general all of Rome. The lowest point was reached on November 6 in Derbywhen his attempt to dribble on Pedro was unsuccessful, allowing the Spaniard to serve the assist for the winning goal by Felipe Anderson.

A disappointment increased, less than 24 hours later, by Tite’s decision exclude it from the squad for the World Cup. Having recently entered the Brazil tour, Ibanez probably would have stayed at home anyway, but if there had been any doubts the derby clearly didn’t help him.

This long stop will serve him for dispose of all this and to start again stronger than before. The defender, on the other hand, appears highly motivated also because he seems to be indelibly linked to the city of Rome. As evidence of what has been said, in fact, there is a new tattoo that Ibanez recently showed on social networks, a warrior in the shadow of the Colosseum on the leg.

An image that needs no further comments, a portrait that certifies how much he cares about the capital and its history. He knows it well too Mourinho, the first to defend him publicly after the derby. We all make mistakes, but what must never be lacking is the right attitude and on this Ibanez it is commendable.
